A fifteenth century manor house with an Arts and Crafts garden, made after 1891. Designed by Reginald Blomfield and F Inigo Thomas, it is one of the best examples of the style recommended in The Formal Garden in England, which was illustrated by Thomas. The Great Court has 12 yew pyramids; a terrace with two summerhouses overlooks a canal; there is a sunken lawn with a pool. In all, there are nine garden courts.

Opening times March to October. Daily except Fridays & Saturdays. Open 10.30am to 5pm. Also open Sundays only from November to February.
Admission Adult £8.50, £5.50 after 2:30pm

    A most charming and very English garden. Plenty of styles to enjoy..the boxy Arts and Crafts style, more open meadowy areas and wide lawns with Hydrangeas etc. It feels like a garden with personality !
