They should not be thinking about a 'cultural dollar'. As in Olympia and Delphi, there should be a full integration of art with athleticism and of architecture with landscape. What is the point of developing the body without developing the soul?

Interesting. Architects (and perhaps landscape architects) have a bit of work to do to capture the cultural dollar [which is usually spent on events] within their projects.

The water cube[ www.flickr.com/photos/aubs/2759462293/ ] is probably a good place for us to start fast-talking...

Of course $$$ and £££ should be calculated but an Olympic Project should be MORE than this and MORE than sport. It should also be a cultural project - demonstrating how to inspire people by doing new things in better ways. Just hoiking up a few blocks is not good enough, in my view.

Students at TCU talking 'green roofs'. [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rerAbR0CgoA ] It seems green roofs are still very 'new' [ http://www.greenroofs.org/index.php/about-green-roofs in the North America. ]

The UK has followed the German model of green roofs. [ http://www.greenroofsnaturally.co.uk/classifications.htm ] Perhaps the CGI are being conservative in their design approach? [ http://www.greenroofsnaturally.co.uk/completedprojects.htm ]

Or perhaps it is a matter of $'s and who will be responsible for the roof gardens after the Olympics? [ http://www.estatesgazette.com/blogs/peter-bill/2009/07/what-price-for-the-olympic-village.html ]
